Deborah Lüdi Reidy, Founder

I’ve always loved languages and remain in awe of the beauty and power of the written word that transcends language to deliver meaning. My interest in translation was sparked by the sworn translator who facilitated converting my German documents into Portuguese. I’ve now lived the immigrant experience not once but twice, having lived in my native Switzerland, in Brazil, and the United States. I have witnessed first-hand the challenges of navigating through the bureaucracy of the immigration process, including the need for multiple sworn and certified translations.

As a professional translator fully aware of the process challenges, gratification comes from the opportunity to truly help clients through the complicated documentation process while simultaneously dealing with complex legal and business aspects.

My training includes a degree in translation and interpreting with a major in legal translation and an internship with a federal judge. Previous careers as both a court interpreter and legal translater in the Brazilian Federal court system have greatly enhanced my understanding of the legal system. I’m currently continuing my education through a specialization program in Intellectual Property law.

I’m a member of the American Translators Association and have published a number of articles. One of my favorites was included in a book, The Complexity of Legal Translation and its Relationship to Comparative Law: An Interdisciplinary Perspective.

When I’m not engrossed in multi-language projects, you can find me hiking or driving in the mountains, baking and cooking across a wide range of international cuisines – from Brazilian to gourmet Swiss to Thai – and studying the work of portrait artists while also painting portraits myself.
nts into Portuguese as part of a family move to Brazil. At that time, I was unaware of the transformative power provided by professional translators, and it was a fascinating introduction to career possibilities.
